Bournemouth weekend get-away

Last weekend the mister and I escaped for a weekend on the coast to celebrate our one year anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been a whole year since our wedding day

We stayed in the beautiful Green House in Bournemouth. We strolled along the beach and up through the town and ate a delicious four course dinner at the Green Room within the hotel.

A cast iron tub in our room!

Eco-friendly purified tap sparkling water on the night stand. Love.

A beautiful (although a little chilly) day.

Not another bill part 2

You may remember that I subscribed to Not Another Bill's service back in July. My first present was a rather usual print that after some convincing from friends I thought I might hang in my flat.

My second gift was a sewing set by Merchant and Mills. It included a soft measuring tape, pencil, thimble and old school safety pins (and a cute postcard). While very cute, I'm not sure what to do with it?

Is there a fun/practical way to display something like this?

Friday

My perfect fall meal

The weather has finally turned to that crisp chilly air and the leaves are beginning to crunch beneath my feet. Fall has arrived. A bowl of spicy butternut squash soup and a grilled cheese sandwich is all I needed to make this Friday perfect.

Astronomy photographer of the year

A few weeks ago the mister and I ventured over to the lovely Greenwich for the Astronomy photographer of the Year exhibit at the Royal Observatory. The exhibit is much smaller than the likes of the Wildlife Photography exhibit at the Natural History Museum but it's also free.

The photos were fantastic and they really piqued my interest about space. All of the entries can be found on their Flickr page but I've also pulled a few out below that I thought were especially cool.

Amazing handbags

I recently purchase this bag after months of searching for a bag that wasn't covered in logos, studs, tassels or any other general hideousness. My main criteria were that it fit my laptop comfortably and it was genuine leather. You would think this would leave me with quite a few options but realistically there were only a handful that landed in the affordable category. Opelle was a front runner with their absolutely gorgeous and simple bags. I saw over on MadeByGirl that there's a 15% code for her readers so go check out her site if you like Opelle's wears.

Gail's

Have you noticed that Gail's are popping up all over London? I've only visited the one in Clapham Junction but it's a favorite spot to grab lunch, especially on a sunny day.

These beautiful city maps can not only be used as wrapping paper but I think would also look great in a frame. (A fantastic low budget gift idea!).
