Sunday

shoe clips

How fun are these shoe clips. I would potentially just need 1 really comfy pair of flats and all I'd have to do is rotate clips. Love this idea!

Friday

Valentine's baking

The night before Valentine's day I baked my colleagues some cupcakes to celebrate. I've noticed the British can be a bit bah humbug about holidays so I wanted to spread the cheer. I cracked open my Hummingbird Bakery cookbook for both the cake and frosting recipe. I then went a little crazy with the sprinkles and nerds but they turned out absolutely delicious. By 10am at the office my batch of 24 cupcakes had been completely destroyed.

Thursday

duck and waffle

I've been wanting to try Duck and Waffle ever since I read about it on London Eater. First it was completely booked out and then it was just finding the time. I finally made it with some girlfriends the other week for a great night of hilarious chats and delicious food.

View over London with kitchen reflection
Signature dish - duck & waffle
fired pigs ears
broccoli with Caesar dressing, almonds and parmesan / pollack meatballs
scallops
fried mars bar / warm chocolate brownie

Tuesday

space and all its glory

Last year (2011) the mister and I ventured out to Greenwich for the Astronomy Photographer of the Year exhibit at the Royal Observatory. And since we were at the Royal Observatory for Valentine's day this year, we decided to stop off at the exhibit before doing some stargazing.

The earth (and human bodies) never ceases to amaze me. I love the beauty of these photographs as much as I love the notion they represent, that human existence is such a tiny part of our universe.

That's Venus in front of the sun! (at 4am in the UK)

Tory Burch Resort

Living in a city that requires a lot of walking, I've really come to appreciate flats that don't rip my feet to pieces (they're harder to come by than you think). Tory Burch is one of my go to brands for comfy flats and on a recent perusal of their site for shoes I came across their resort collection. I'm thinking a few of these pieces wouldn't look too bad in my suitcase to Hawaii

Friday

A warm fire and comfort food

With the recent cold weather (when is it going to warm up, ffs!) all I want to do is cuddle up next to a blazing fire. Unfortunately our flat doesn't have a fire place so I have to settle for a pub fire. In the spirit of embracing all that is British, the mister and I went out with some friends for a Sunday roast the other weekend. We tried  the Barnes Red Lion which did not disappoint in the roaring fire or food category.

Tuesday

Siro-A

Over the weekend the mister and I had an out of town visitor and we booked some last minute tickets to Siro-A. I'm not really sure how to describe Siro-A; electronic/techno, dance, projection. The website described them as a Japanese Blue Man Group. I'll let you see for yourself in the video. Regardless of how you might describe it, I thought it was great fun and followed by a meal at Inamo, I felt like I had one wonderfully techy Japanese evening.

Thursday

Ombre

Lately I've been thinking about changing my locks. I'm in dire need of a trim but instead of doing anything crazy with the cut I thought I might dye my hair. I've only dyed my hair once previously, right before I moved to London. I love the look of ombre hair, especially Khloe Kardashian's below. Since I don't tend to "do" my hair (besides occasionally running the tongs through) I don't know how it would look when my hair was messy (e.g. not style like a celebrity) I'm still deciding...
